Playing music can have a very positive effect on young people. High-quality instruments are needed by teens in youth organizations and by schools with underfunded music programs. Build-a-Band™ was created to serve this need. These instrument kits were custom-designed for BEST - complete with instruction manuals - to provide a unique and exciting company event.

This charitable event starts by forming your group into teams (Bands) who pick a team leader (Lead Singer) and engage in our fun, fast-paced, team competition called BrainStorm.

BrainStorm features team questions, photo activities, and timed video challenges that enable teams to earn the parts necessary to assemble the guitars, bass guitars, and drum sets. Throughout the Brainstorm program, participants will be capturing photos and videos of each other in action.

As teams gain points through BrainStorm challenges, they will be rewarded with trips to our music store to obtain the parts needed for the assembly. Our expert facilitators (Roadies) will do periodic inspections will ensure the guitars, bass guitars, and drum sets are built to precise specifications.

Our guitar kits also include a tuner, audio cable, guitar strap, picks, and even a personal amplifier! Depending upon the allotted time, each team can create a band name, design a drum head with a band logo, create a concert poster, and decorate a special white guitar box to reflect the unique personality of their band.

Once all the instruments are built, don’t be surprised if a spontaneous jam session and photo opportunity break out. So, let’s get rolling and build some band instruments for future musicians of America, who will never forget your wonderful gift to their school or organization. At the conclusion of the program, a local charity or school representative may address your group and thank you for your donation.

When we contacted our national charitable organizations about what instruments they needed the most for their music programs (other than the guitars that are built and donated through our Build-a-Guitar), they said bass guitars and drums! That was the inspiration for Build-a-Band! The key was the guitars. You can’t build a guitar in an hour because they need to be sanded, stained, coated and then assembled, which takes a whole day and involves gluing necks, drilling holes, and soldering connections. So, we hired a top guitar company to build us a guitar kit from scratch that could be assembled in an hour without all the steps mentioned above. We then designed our own Instruction booklets. The guitars are excellent quality; one-of-a-kind kits build exclusively for BEST, and they sound great! We had a bass guitar kit made and developed an easy-to-understand instruction book for that instrument too, and added a drum set kit to create Build-a-Band!
